Message from the Executive Director

I am pleased to share with you African Network for the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) – Ethiopia’s over all interventions. ANPPCAN-Ethiopia was established in 1990 and registered in the same year with former Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was again registered with the Ministry of Justice in 1996 and again re-registered as an Ethiopian Resident Charity Association with the Federal Charities and Societies Agency in 2009 under registration number 0385.

It is always important to reiterate the vision of the organization, see a society where children are safe and their potential realized. Our programmatic intervention include child protection, education and early childhood development, migration and child trafficking, promoting positive child rearing practice, sexual reproductive health and family planning, food security, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), disaster prevention and rehabilitation of victims and others. We have been working in a number of Woredas of Amhara, Oromia, SNNP regions and Addis Ababa City Administration over the past 27 years.

ANPPCAN-Ethiopia demonstrated remarkable achievements in its works. Working in collaboration with stakeholders in a participatory way (government offices, community, beneficiaries, donors and others), transparency and accountability are some of the unique features of ANPPCAN-Ethiopia. I believe that these contributed a lot to the growth and development of the organization. Various Certificate Recognitions given to it from the government and donor partners are good examples or witnesses for this statement.

Donor, National and International NGOs and Networks and likeminded organizations supported ANPPCAN-Ethiopia program’s right from its establishment. Save the Children, Action Aid Ethiopia, Plan International Ethiopia, Pact Ethiopia, FHI 360, European Union, IFRC, UNVTF, France Embassy, Terre des Hommes Netherlands are among the partners supporting our programs.

On behalf of the people whose life have been positively impacted by our projects, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our donors, not only for their financial support, but also for building and strengthening the capacities of the organizations in many ways.
Potential donors and other development actors who are interested to work with local civil society organizations, ANPPCAN-Ethiopia is the right choice because its ample and proven experiences will be a good source of inspirations worth noting.

I would like to thank ANPPCAN-Ethiopia’s Management Board for advising and giving directions to the Secretariat. Last but not least, I really want to thank ANPPCAN-Ethiopia’s staff for the commitment and hard work they showed over the past so many years and impacting the life of the needy children and their families positively. Without them, the growth and development of ANPPCAN-Ethiopia would not have happened.

Thank you!
