Who we are

African Network for the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN)–Ethiopia is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political Ethiopian resident NGO. It is a member of the Pan African Network Organization known as African Network for Prevention and Protection of Children against Abuse and Neglect which has a Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya and Chapters in 20 African countries.
ANPPCAN-Ethiopia was established in 1990 and registered in the same year with former Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was again registered with the Ministry of Justice in 1996 and with the Charities and Societies Agency in 2009 under registration number 0385.  ANPPCAN-Ethiopia has obtained its existing name as the result of its dialogue with Charities and Societies Agency in line with the Proclamation 621/2009.
ANPPCAN-Ethiopia is a membership organization established by multidisciplinary professionals including lawyers, pediatricians, media professionals, psychologists, sociologists, educators, journalists, etc.  The main focal areas of ANPPCAN – Ethiopia are provision of parenting skills and positive child disciplining methods, rehabilitation and reintegration of children under difficult circumstances, community based support for orphans and vulnerable children, contributing to prevention of HIV/AIDS and health hazards of child rearing practices and development programs with particular focus on quality education, primary health care, sexual reproductive health, empowerment of women, water and sanitation and livelihood of disadvantaged families with active involvement of children, communities, relevant government organizations and other stakeholders.

Organizational Identity

Association for National Planned Program for Vulnerable Children And in Need (ANPPCAN-Ethiopia) is a non-political, non-religious, not for profit nongovernmental local organization established in 1990, and re-registered as an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization in 2009.

Association for National Planned Program for Vulnerable Children and in Need (ANPPCAN) –Ethiopia is a Resident Charity registered under registration number 0385. It had 98 staff members (M=67 and F= 20) out of which 40 are professionals and 31 semi professionals (program staff) and 32 support staff.
ANPPCAN-Ethiopia is operating in three regions of Ethiopia: Amhara (North Wollo and North Gondar), SNNPR (Sidama) and Oromia (North Shoa) and in Addis Ababa City Administration.

Mission

ANPPCAN-Ethiopia strives towards realizing the wellbeing of children by creating enabling environment for their normal growth and development, provision of psychosocial support for vulnerable children, prevention of child migration and trafficking and rehabilitation of victims, work on sexual reproductive health and take part on community led development programs benefiting children, youth and women.
