a. Education and Early Childhood Development
Scale up school contribution to improve quality education through construction of classrooms and providing equipment with the participation of the community, contribute to early childhood development and creation of awareness in the school set upon positive child disciplining methods.

b. Child Migration and Trafficking

Prevention of child migration and trafficking and rehabilitation of victims.

c. Child Protection

Provide prevention and rehabilitation services for orphans and vulnerable children, children with disabilities and labor exploited children and youth including medical, counseling, family reunification services, vocational and life skills trainings and income generation activities.

d. Child Rearing Practices, Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS

Undertake prevention of harmful child rearing practices, rehabilitate child victims, scale up sexual reproductive health and prevent HIV/AIDS

e. Social and Economic Development of Women
Scale up and expand the social and economic empowerment of disadvantaged women.

f. Food Security
Strengthen food security and livelihood activities to help the disadvantaged children, youth and women self reliance.
g. Maternal and Child Health Care
Undertake maternal and child care services to contribute to MDG of reduction of child and maternal death.

h. Water, Sanitation and hygiene
Scale up the undertaking of water and sanitation activities and livelihood support for disadvantaged communities.

Objectives

The major objectives of ANPPCAN-Ethiopia are the following:

The major objectives of ANPPCAN-Ethiopia are the following:

    1. To create conducive environment for the normal growth and development of children by providing parenting skills and positive child disciplining methods for parents, guardians, teachers, children and other community members;
    2. To rehabilitate and reintegrate orphans, vulnerable children, street children, migrant and trafficked children, labor exploited children, children affected physically, psychologically and sexually, and children with disabilities by providing them educational material support, medical, counseling and family reunification services.
    3. To provide community based family centered support for orphans, vulnerable children and children with disabilities and vocational training support and income generation for out of school vulnerable children and youth;
    4. To contribute to positive upbringing of children and the youth in protecting them against HIV/AIDS and other health hazards of child rearing practices and providing them with reproductive health services and life skills;
    5. To contribute to community led development program benefiting children, youth and women with particular focus on provision of quality education, primary health care, water and sanitation and support for saving and credit cooperatives for low income communities;
    6. To undertake studies on orphans and vulnerable children, street children, migrant children, children affected  physically, psychosocially and sexually and children with disabilities and share findings with relevant organizations;
    7. Network with government organizations and national and international NGOs with similar objectives for improved services for children;
    8. To engage in disaster prevention and reduction (DPR)

Target groups of ANPPCAN-Ethiopia

The main target groups of ANPPCAN–Ethiopia include:

    1. Primary targets
  • Children (children in general, child victims of physical, psychological and sexual and harmful acts, labor exploited children, trafficked children, street children, migrant children, orphans and vulnerable children, children affected by health hazards of child rearing practices and HIV/AIDS and children with disabilities.
  • 2. Secondary targets
  • Community
  • Vulnerable women – female headed households, low income earners
  • Parents, teachers, members of women and youth associations, CBOs Kebele/Farmers’ associations, etc
  • Care takers (family/guardian) CBOS, Idir members, (Grass root level self help organizations), community opinion leaders, religious leaders, teachers, traditional healers, Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) etc.)
